In June 05:35
We’ve been sitting here for weeks, listening to the floors creaking I think my radiator speaks, must be wondering what I’m thinking Crystals form a white cocoon, just wish we could keep sleeping Suffocates a hollow moon, all this snow that keeps me sinking My held breath is frozen in my chest Sunshine anthem swung in loneliness Only icicles form from my words Watch her flee this house trailing the birds I wanna see my mother’s face Simply laughing in that sun rich place Where all those colors keep burning tones in bloom I’ll be run’n beneath the trees in june To get some light in my mind I break the skin of quenepas And spit sugarcane rind, It must be God who keeps my grandfather’s gardens And his beautiful skin Goodbyes to evade our killers Now my mornings are dim Sunshine, in my mind Sunshine, in my mind I wanna see my mother’s face Simply laughing in that sun rich place Where all those colors keep burning tones in bloom I’ll be run’n beneath the trees in june To get some light in my mind I break the skin of quenepas And spit sugarcane rind, It must be God who keeps my grandfather’s gardens And his beautiful skin Goodbyes to evade our killers Now my mornings are dim

If living life means living my life only I’ll be living my life till it’s gone I stream away the hours It’s just a little sacrifice So I’m living my life till it’s gone The glowing screen is giving my time meaning So I’m giving my time till it’s gone Been really meaning to get out The city scream to me in doubt So I’m giving my life till it’s gone See, I’m protected by the flames within the game And cradled by it’s pixelated snow I don’t really need anyone I’ve only simulated love And the only mirror I see is in the code Pull me out I may scream and shout Watch me unplug Passion scold my heart and wake me up Sound the alarm WEEOOWEEOOWEEOO I hate my job Selling this shit’s fucked up Gotta work out Tired of the duck and run See more Reach a better dream Gotta wake up Sound the alarm WEEOOWEEOOWEEOO Our generation dreams within a frame So I’ll frame my dream into a song I wanna sing to everyone Before we stream away the young So I’m giving my life to this song

Sunrise 05:57
Hold you in my arms tonight Day slipping away Breathe in your curls Like smoke free in the air Will you sleep alone? Or would you rather stay? All I’m asking is for sunrise before we float away All I’m asking is for sunrise before we float away All of our moments were stolen thus far May the sunrise reveal just who we are All of our moments were stolen thus far May the sunrise reveal just who we are Someday sunrise will come Sunrise will come Someday sunrise will come All I’m asking is for sunrise for us to feel as one

Strangers 05:15
Leaning on a silent ledge Where icicles grow thin with dread And beautiful as you are Stranger Smiles that make your essence glow Inviting eyes that won’t let go And Beautiful as you are Stranger If I follow you I cannot lead Your touch would quench an aching need But devour you I won’t What would we become? What would we become? If I don’t open up You will never see the stars Let’s live in the moment Let’s live in the moment Hunger Stranger So put your hands all over me Oh you’re driving me crazy Would would we become Would would we become

Shine 04:24
Leaving all those thing behind All those wonders gave off some much shine Till your father gave all that he could A young lover stole your favorite book Playgrounds vanish in thin air As your mother whisper in your ear All their voices intertwine To draw you from your porch into the night For no child could hold up that torchlight We are leaving our old things behind To go out and stargaze and grow our own shine We are leaving our old things behind Return to our playgrounds and and grow our own shine In that darkness, we’ll grow our own shine

We Are Doves 04:57
How did we become pillars of salt in the rain? Untrusty bridges to cross over tar pits a-rage How did we become cold calculators of blame? Yelling at mirrors that frost under every cold name How did we become kirens in love? Cobras out flashing our tongues But in the morning light We are doves Forgiveness starves alone Unwelcome in our home It shines little lies that we’ve told Forgiveness starves alone Trembling behind a poem We fight till the frozen night has flown My emotions are raw You don’t forgive me enough But in the morning light we are doves I’m feeling so alone Melting through time Without all our wonder years on film

A Bell 04:47
What a frigid morning to tumble out of bed Crack the coffee can, and search the skies for bread Avoiding conversations, let’s just leave them in the dunes If they ever reach a spark, we’d wither in their plumes Oh, I’ll never be left open and wanting I’m too vulnerable, I might lose something In the loosening of curls down your face my girl All I’ve promised to your Trust and I will be Oh, I’ll never be left open and wanting I’m too vulnerable, I might lose something In the loosening of curls down your face my girl You got me driving so far Replace the time we spent apart From the loosening of curls down your face my girl All I’ve promised to your Trust and I will be true Oh I understand, you can’t un-ring a bell No more. You can’t un-ring a bell
8.
When I would fall behind you’d read to me You’ll never know what the simple act of kindness means to me I’ve grown far beyond the confines of shame and ego Now I’m not far behind Light a fire that I can take back to my father Burn me once so I can feel what’s right Through the gunfire and pain in my life When I would fell behind you’d read to me You’ll never know what that simple act of patience means to me I’ve grown far beyond this moral flatline Divide into divine dust Must leave it all behind Must leave it all behind Must leave it all behind Except the words we take with us Yeah just read to me Be sweet to me Must leave it all behind Must leave it all behind Must leave it all behind Except the words we take with us

Gather friends in these darkest times Let us understand, a good man Flashing gold fills our souls with voices the tame our disbelief How could we ever know, really know, the colors our music reveals to me Oh gather friends in these darkest times Let us understand a good man With his flashing gold, brash and bold, swinging across a father’s silence And with every brother lost, we fell the cost And vow to fight oppression borne of violence Oh gather friends in these darkest times Let us understand a good man Gather friends in these darkest times Let us understand Gather friends in these darkest times Let us understand A good man

Soothe me with your lips Feast your eyes on my soul Draw me into a basin with waves down you back Flooding fruit with a fever, flesh imbued with a rolling attack I fall deep in your mind with my eyes closed Wrenching your hair like a rope Your breast on my heaving brethon my neck Venting secrets held deep in the bone Our moans melt away… all the snow Shimmer, glow, sparkle, flash We shield our eyes from a lightning crash Fused into a ribbon from river to glass Distilling a light from yet unseen by man Your radios flicker and apertures lack You raise me up for a moment before we collapse

about

Heliocentric is Wooden Rings’ first full-length vinyl release. This collection of songs that explore the complications seasonal depression brings to the interpersonal life of a Caribbean immigrant to the Midwest. Soaked in trombone and oboe the guitar work is supported by keys, fretless bass, and angelic vocal harmony.

This was recorded mostly by James Auwarter, a Grammy Award winner and founder of Coda Room Audio, Chicago/London. Other notable engineers include Bryon Harden of I See Music, Yuri Yuri Lysoivanov at Flashpoint Academy, and Mark Yoshizumi at the IV LAbs (RIP). Along with many other talented contributors, the core of Wooden Rings now consists of Ramah Malebranche (guitar & vocals), Alex Brescanu (bass), Nathan Staley (drums), and Liz Arakaki (vocals & keyboards).
